Is is possible?

So, I’ve been muttering to myself (I do that a lot) while balling a couple hanks of yarn and I had a thought and since I have a blog and a small audience I thought I’d see what you guys think.

When I was writing screenplays I had little trouble producing pages.  I don’t write screenplays anymore, the structure was a little too much for me.  I mean, you tell a story in three acts and 100 pages – maximum.  Where am I going with this?  Oh, right.  I was thinking, what if I wrote out my first draft as a screenplay?  Then when I had the story down I could go back to do a second draft I could fill in the details and put it into novel form.

What do you guys think?  Too much or possibly the way I should be working?  I’m thinking this might be my nano project.

  1. Sounds like a great idea. Not only will you have the story structure, you’ll have a lot of your pertinent dialogue in place.

  2. The dialogue is what I write mostly anyway, first round. I’ll have pages and pages of dialogue with brief tags or notes to action, but otherwise, just dialogue.
