A new challenge

It’s nearly the beginning of a new month and it’s a wonderful time to start a new writing challenge so that’s what I’m going to do.  Of course I’m not doing this challenge alone.  I’ve got Kim along for the ride and well, personally I don’t care who else joins in.  The plan?  To get some writing done.  If  nothing else it will be good warm up for NaNo in November (God are we that close to November already?).

My specific goal?  Don’t completely have one.  Oh wait!  Yes I do.  By the end of the month I want to have nearly 200 pages on this current project “Blood Brothers.”  If I could pull together 35 pages in about a week with the previous version of this story then 200 pages in a month shouldn’t be a seriously long haul.  I’ll be checking in regularly here.  And please, if I don’t someone ping me via Twitter of Facebook to keep my honest.  I have to keep this place up to date.  I’ll also be checking in on Friday’s over at the Wiffer forums on my progress.

That’s my short update for today, expect more ramblings to come.  Okay, now it’s Kim’s turn to blog.

Never mock the girls

Yup, the lesson of this week has been to never mock the Younger Miss Bennetts.  Ever.

See, in my last post I poked fun at their need for pink paper before they would give me any details on a fluffy romance idea from like 2 1/2 years ago.   We both have long memories and apparently they loved the paper so much they were wounded.  So what did they do?  They handed me a brand spanking new story idea that less than 24 hours later is nearly full formed.  I’d be writing it right now if my characters had names.  Yeah, that’s not new for me so I’m not terribly worried.  I think I wrote something like 20 pages of a story once with just he/she tags because I didn’t have names.

This new idea is wonderful and I’ve spent the day turning it around, trying to find out which direction is best.  I think I have it.  I’ve also noticed a trend in my stories of late.  Reunions.  “Redemption” is a reunion story.  “On the Way Down” is a reunion story.  So I’m right on target.   The hero is a little different in this one, but I like it.  So, off to see if I can pull some character names out of the book.

How did everyone else’s weekend go?
