A new challenge

It’s nearly the beginning of a new month and it’s a wonderful time to start a new writing challenge so that’s what I’m going to do.  Of course I’m not doing this challenge alone.  I’ve got Kim along for the ride and well, personally I don’t care who else joins in.  The plan?  To get some writing done.  If  nothing else it will be good warm up for NaNo in November (God are we that close to November already?).

My specific goal?  Don’t completely have one.  Oh wait!  Yes I do.  By the end of the month I want to have nearly 200 pages on this current project “Blood Brothers.”  If I could pull together 35 pages in about a week with the previous version of this story then 200 pages in a month shouldn’t be a seriously long haul.  I’ll be checking in regularly here.  And please, if I don’t someone ping me via Twitter of Facebook to keep my honest.  I have to keep this place up to date.  I’ll also be checking in on Friday’s over at the Wiffer forums on my progress.

That’s my short update for today, expect more ramblings to come.  Okay, now it’s Kim’s turn to blog.

  1. Count me in on the challenge. I’m in the plotting stage, not writing exactly. So my goal would be to have the plot done by the end of Sept. Last time, that was 28 pages of single-spaced plot/brain barf (more or less followed in the actual writing).

  2. It’s great to set goals! Good luck in the coming month. I’ll be rooting for you.

  3. Sounds like September is going to be a writing month. Wiffer Powers, Activate!!!

  4. Okay, Karen I think something just blew out in my brain. I’m happy to have a 5 point outline, which is more than I usually have when I start. 28 pages. Sorry, my little pantser brain is twitching over here. But! Welcome to the challenge club!

Thanks Amanda. How’s the Project Nora coming along?

  5. So Pam, are you still splitting your time editing and writing or has one taken priority over the other?

  6. As mentioned, there was a lot of brain barf in there. But it worked for me – I did improvise as I went along, tho’ the general plot held. Planning to keep it MUCH shorter this time.

  7. LOL@Karen. Brain Barf. Gotta love it!

Woo-Hoo! Let’s do this thing! I haven’t quite nailed down a goal, but I think my first challenge will be to remember my WordPress password. I plan to hit the forums tonight and do some blogging. See you all there!

  8. Yes Kim, remembering the password to your blog is an important first step. ;p

I came up with my goal as I was writing the blog post so it might shift a little as the month wears on. We’ll see.
